A voice game where you play the detective by talking
Hold the mic, ask a question, and listen to a suspect lie to you. That is the whole controller.
Break the Suspect is a voice game. You play a detective, and your voice is how you play: you speak your questions in the interview room, and each suspect answers out loud in their own voice. There are no menus of answers to choose from. You talk, they talk back, and the case is won when one of them confesses.
Why voice suits an interrogation
An interrogation is already a spoken game. Tone matters, pauses matter, the follow-up question matters more than the first one. Playing by voice keeps you in the scene: you are not reading options, you are deciding what to say next while a suspect watches you. When they hesitate, you hear it.
What you can say
Anything a detective would. Ask where they were at 2 a.m. Ask why their story changed. Read them the time stamp on the footage. Tell them their friend already talked. The suspects understand plain speech, follow the thread of the conversation, and remember what they already told you.
What you hear back
- Suspects answer in their own voices, each with their own way of talking.
- Captain Miller briefs you before the case and has a word with you after it, fast and to the point.
- The squad slips you notes during the night when they find something.
When you cannot talk out loud
On a train or late at night, type instead. The game works the same way, and suspects still answer in their own voice.
What you need
A phone with Safari or Chrome and a microphone. Open play.breakthesuspect.com and allow the microphone when asked. Headphones help you catch the small things. The briefing and the first five questions of every case are free.
