Privacy policy

Last updated 28 October 2026

Break the Suspect is a detective game made by RRDL LIMITED ("we"). This page explains what the game collects, why, and what you can ask us to do with it.

What we collect

  • An anonymous player ID. Created on your device the first time you play, so your interviews stay yours. We don't ask for your name, email or phone number to play.
  • What you say in an interview. The text of your questions (typed, or transcribed from your voice) and the actions you take in the room, together with the suspects' replies. This is how the case remembers where you are.
  • Basic technical logs. Request times, errors and approximate usage, kept to run and fix the service.

Your voice

When you hold the mic, speech is turned into text by your phone or browser's built-in speech recognition. We receive the text, not a recording. Apple (Safari, iOS) or Google (Chrome, Android) may process the audio under their own privacy terms to do this.

Who processes your data

  • OpenRouter and the AI model providers it routes to (such as Anthropic and OpenAI) receive the interview text needed to write each suspect's reply and to produce their voice. We send no account details with it.
  • MongoDB Atlas stores game sessions, in the European Union (Ireland).
  • Fly.io hosts the game servers (London).

We don't sell your data, show ads, or use tracking or advertising SDKs.

How long we keep it

Interview sessions are kept while a case is running and for up to 12 months after it closes, then deleted. Technical logs are kept for up to 30 days.

Your choices

You can ask us to see or delete your game data at any time by writing to support@breakthesuspect.com. Include the date you played; we can find your anonymous sessions from there. Deleting the app or clearing the site's data in your browser also removes the player ID from your device.

Children

The game deals with crime, including murder, and is not meant for children under 13.

Changes

If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date above.
