Break the Suspect Play now

A murder mystery game that runs in your phone browser

Case file 03 · 4 minute read

No install. No controller. You need a phone, a microphone, and the nerve to ask a liar a second question.

Most murder mystery games arrive as a box with cards, or a download with a tutorial. Break the Suspect takes a shorter route: you open a link, allow the microphone, and you are already in the squad room.

What happens in the first ten minutes

  1. The briefing. Captain Miller and the squad walk you through the victim, the scene, and the people in the building.
  2. The chair. You pick a suspect and sit across from them. Any order. Switch rooms whenever a story stops adding up.
  3. The first question. Hold the mic and ask out loud, or type it. They answer in their own voice.
  4. The first tell. A hand to the face. A glance at the door. A hard swallow. Tells repeat when you get close.
  5. The first exhibit. Lab results and street footage come in through the night. Slide the right one across and watch it land.

Why the browser matters

There is no download and no app store round trip, so the game starts when you decide to play. It also means the game can change between cases: a new case arrives every few days, and the page carries the newest one.

Two practical notes: use Safari or Chrome on your phone, and allow the microphone when the browser asks. If you would rather not talk, type your questions instead. The interrogation works the same way.

Is it a real murder mystery?

Yes, in the sense that matters. There is a victim, a scene, several suspects with something to hide, and one of them did it. What is different is that the suspects are not cards with fixed lines. They can lie, deflect, go quiet, or ask for a lawyer. Only the full story, in their own words, closes the case.

Cost and rules

Your first five questions are free on every case, up to seven while the interview is going somewhere. After that: $4.99 for one case, $10.99 a month, or $89.99 a year. The captain has rules too. Burn questions on the wrong person and he knocks. Lean too hard and counsel sits down. Release the killer and you are off the case.

An iPhone app is in testing. For now the browser version is the fastest way in.
